Welcome to your new home on the Net! The Disability Support Community is a support and discussion website and forum where all people with a disability of any kind can and carers for those with a disability, can seek support, resources and help with any issue.
Here at DSComm.org, we know from experience how isolated a disability can make us feel, and we appreciate that it can seem at times as if it's just you versus 6 and a half billion! We all need support at some time, and we believe that a community just like the one we have created here, can be a major help.
We are here to support each other, to vent and discuss any issues that we have, within a group of like-minded people. So, we ask you to join us here because even though you may not need us today, you might need us tomorrow and we want to be here for you if you do!
We also hope to develop this site to include resources and information that you want to see, and we are happy to take requests for any related resources.
Here at DSCOMM, we recognise that the issues raised on our discussion forum may be sensitive, and that privacy is of great value. It is because of this, that we have developed a member area. This can only be accessed by those who have created a completely free account through some simple steps. As a member, you will have access to a specific 'members only' home page, where you can access the discusison forum, create and edit your own profile, view the profiles of others and benefit from many other tools and features that we now offer! To get started, click on the 'Members Home Page' icon, in the site index, to the left of every page!
Our members only message forum is a place where you can discuss issues that affect you, support others and generally take an important place within a community that understands and acknowledges the difficulties that we all can face.
You may also find our 2 internet group sister-pages useful, they offer a different, equally secure environment where you can post and talk to an even wider audience. You can visit our Google Groups page by clicking on the link to the right to 'visit this group' or click the Yahoo 'Subscribe' groups link (also to the right) to be taken to our Yahoo Groups branch. Once at the group, you can easily set up a google or yahoo account (if you don't already have one) and apply for free membership to the group, so that you can access all posts and reply's, and add your own posts.
And, don't forget, we now have a DSCOMM.org profile on the Myspace network, so please join us there too, add us as a friend, and visit the group that we host there also!
